2008 August 25

Created by Rob 15 years ago
Mr. Weeks was born in Washington, DC on June 30, 1931, and lived in Cottage City, Maryland, before moving to northwest Washington, DC when he was 10 years old. He spent summers from early childhood through his mid fifties in Colonial Beach, Virginia. Bob graduated from Wilson High School, and received a degree from Montgomery Junior College, where he played football and was a member of Phi Omega Chi Fraternity. Following in his father’s footsteps, he worked as a cartographer at the U.S. Naval Oceanographic Office (which later became the Defense Mapping Agency), retiring after 36 years of service in 1988. His good looks caught the eye of a Washington, DC talent agency, and he moonlighted for years as a model, appearing in numerous print and television ads. He and wife Patti became part-time residents of Ocean Pines, Maryland in 1985, moving there full-time in 1995. In August 2003, they moved to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Bob was a master joke-teller, and carried a list of over 1,000 punch lines in his wallet. If there was a group of people at a party laughing their heads off, you could be sure Bobby was in the middle of it telling one of his many jokes. Everyone knew Bob loved “Seinfeld” and would watch repeats any time of the day or night. His favorite song was “Mack the Knife,” and favorite singers, Elvis and Frank Sinatra. Bob was an avid golfer and diehard Washington Redskins fan. Patti, or “Sugah,” (as he called her) was the love of his life, as were his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughters. BobandPatti was a one-word entity. One was never without the other. If they weren’t busy hosting parties, they could be found playing Crazy Bridge, Bobby’s favorite card game. One of their favorite daily rituals was watching “The Price Is Right.” They had a friendly competition to see which one could come closest to guessing the price of a showcase. Mr. Weeks was preceded in death by his parents, Walter I. and Mildred E. Weeks. He is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 24 years, Patricia Dawn Flick Weeks; daughters Donna Sue Bender and Cathy Lynn Nash, and son Robert Walter Weeks; grandchildren, Jason Earnest, Bryan and Kevin Nash, Jordan Coleman, and Jonathan, Elizabeth, and Michael Weeks, and great-granddaughters, Isabelle and Madeleine Coleman. He was Bob to some, Bobby to Patti and his many, many friends, Dad to his kids, and Poppi to his grandchildren. By any name, he was deeply loved. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus, 335 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146. Phone 410-647-3413.
